در توضیحات مربوط به بند UG-28 و محاسبه ضخامت پوسته های ضخیم استاد فرمودند که حداق میزان S از فرمول زیر بدست می آید
S=MIN(2/3Sallowable , 0.9Smys)
این در حالیست که در متن استاندارد ذکر شده 2 برابر :
S is the lesser of two times the maximum allowable stress value in tension at design metal temperature, from the applicable table referenced in UG-23, or 0.9 times the yield strength of the material at design temperature.
